Tun the Blogger’s Hero

Tun the Blogger’s hero raped the Malaysian constitution because he wanted to have more power in his hands.
Tun the Blogger’s hero buggered the judiciary because it refused to bow to political pressure.
Tun the Blogger’s hero oversaw the start and growth of money politics in Umno and did nothing about it.
Tun the Blogger’s hero turned cronyism into a way of making billions at a time when Malaysians didn’t even know what the word meant.
Tun the Blogger’s hero spent billions on a new filing cabinet (Putrajaya) when they could have been spent to build world class learning facilities and hire the best brains from around the world to teach our children.
Tun the Blogger’s hero made physical development our goal and forgot to pay attention to social problems related to transmigration.
Tun the Blogger’s hero took the people’s money to help out his son’s businesses.
Tun the Blogger’s hero allowed his IGP to punch a prisoner in the face without justifiable legal reason and get a way with it.
Tun the Blogger’s hero stood in front of the Royal Commission of Inquiry and told the world that he does not feel he needs to justify any of his decision even when it comes to choosing the country’s top Judge like he is running a family sundry store and the choice is between two brands of toothpaste to stock.

Tun did more damage to the country, piolitically, judicially, constitutionally and socially compared to the benefit he brought physically and financially.
The rot did not start during his time, on the contrary,
HE STARTED THE ROT. Money politics, rampant corruption, breakdown of law and order (when he changes the constitution to suit his whim) all began under his rot at his behest.
Whatever the problem we have now have roots in his time and his administration.
Thank you for those 22 years now can you please shut up Tun.
What more do you want, we have bailed out all your children who are in trouble, gave one a racetrack he can play with his rich friends and fast cars (I have to give credit for this to a commenter on Rocky's I think) and you have a pension for life and bodyguards from the Government.
Don't do us any more favours without asking first. you have had your chance.
If you want to say that there is a problem with leadership and such may i suggest this phrase to kick off any and all of your speeches;
"First of all I would like to admit to the mistakes that I have made during my time in office, for example....(please continue with the list)"

When love goes away, darkness sets on our hearts

A friend of mine took rather strong exception to an advertisement run by national car company Proton portraying their new Saga driven by Astronaut Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.

The astronaut talked about the car’s power and acceleration and finally compared it with the rocket that shot him into space.

I thought the advertisement cheeky and silly but he actually felt insulted by the short clip.

He felt that we all have a social responsibility to push the human race further up the rungs of evolution instead of offering mindless entertainment for everyone.

An advertisement for the new Saga is a rather peculiar platform to launch such a serious and heavy thought but he was clearly angered enough by the 30-second storyline to examine how we can all contribute towards the evolution of society and mankind.

The capitalist system is one that requires a high rate of money circulation because it needs to satisfy investors’ desire for ever higher returns.

It is made possible by the industrial revolution that speeded up production in highly capitalized factories that must be keep working as hard as possible to pay for itself and the return a healthy profit to its owners.

Two centuries after the revolution we are now closer than ever to the zenith of the capitalist system and the consumer society that supports it.

Consumer credit now fuels ever faster growth rates in many economies and what this means is that we are simply forcing others to buy things that they neither need nor want using money they do not have just so that the bank account of companies would show a bigger balance.

If you just stop for a moment to think about the situation, it is quite obvious that consumer credit will be the cause for the unraveling of society into chaos.

Once the debt mounts to unmanageable size then the monetary system as we know it will collapse under the weight of public loss of confidence. I may be exaggerating slightly but it is true that we cannot live beyond our means.

In order to support the ravenous capitalist system, the private sector needs to produce more and more products in countless varieties to tap all available seams of spending power.

This is supported by heavy advertising and promotions budget designed to entice buyers and convince them that a particular brand of an essentially highly similar, if not identical product is superior to the others.

Faced with so many choices consumers need to be dumbed down and this is achieved by the unrelenting bombardment of advertising and the intentionally confusing copies crafted by the agencies.

How many of us can really tell at a glance, which financing package is better, which phone is more suitable for our use and which car offers better value for money?

Everything that can be fragmented and compartmentalized has been so divided and with very passing day, companies are thinking of new ways to differentiate their product from the next.

The result of capitalism is a materialistic society, without a materialistic society capitalism cannot survive and thrive.

Capitalism necessarily means that we worship money above all else and the way to show that we are the most diligent disciple is by buying and flaunting the wealth that the Gods have bestowed on us.

The world is busy hunting personal satisfaction armed with the dollar sign and end up being an increasingly unhappy place. Wealth allows the select few to worry less about the bare necessities while the majority of the population find themselves in the yoke of debt for all their lives. They have no choice but to continue working to pay for the life they are told they should want.

Instant gratification is the mantra today and with it many people become more shallow and hollow.

The case of the Malaysian Airlines co-pilot Ahmad Said, a strapping 25-year old who has his whole life ahead of him indulging in child pornography is just one example of how we look for more and more excitement in our life just to fulfill our base desires.

We do not long for spiritual fulfillment and the moment someone says spiritual fulfillment, many heads would be pointed towards religion and the negative connotation that they are used to attaching to them.

I believe that we need to build spiritual heroes in our society and less of those who can pull trains with their hair, have the most money or have anything to do with the material satisfaction.

Malays are a spiritual people, the Chinese people are a spiritual people and so are the Indians and yet somehow we have become to engrossed with dividing the material pie and forgetting about the essence of our faiths; LOVE.

Capitalism breeds lust, spirituality grows love. We have to choose what we want.

I suppose this is just a rant but it does express why I think we have more but are less happy today

Batik for School

There was an itnerestign letter in the New Straits Times on Wednesday February 6 by Bulbir Singh. It was a short letter that subs used to pin down the page at the bottom right hand corner.
bulbir suggested that we use batik for our school uniform instead of the white shirt.
I am not quite sure what I think of it because batik can look rather messy whereas white is nice crisp and clean. However I must admit that I think it is an excellent idea because it promotes a sense of pride in the country.
There are several problems in implementing batik for schools;
1. Cost, batik is more expensive than white cotton
2. Will the patterned clothing affect children's concentration in class. Don't laugh children can get easily distracted so they may end up wasting time jsut staring at the batik pattern and daydreaming.
3. should each state have their own pattern or should we have a single look after all Kelantan and Terengganu may want theri own look and now that Kedah has Batik Merbok, they too may take exception at having to wear patterns from another state.

Dataran Merdeka for all Malaysians

Tunku Abdul Aziz's piece on Feb 3 in the New Straits Times is one of those articles which carried an idea that everyone should have thought of but never did. Well I certainly never thought of it.

The Royal Selangor Club is a private organisation and it sits rather inappropriately in the middle of a very historic site.
The Merdeka Square deserves to be treated with more respect than as a watering hole for middle aged lawyers and elite of the Capital.

It is certainly time now for the club to vacate the premises and give it back to all Malaysians.

Should the Government wish to build a Museum of Independence then it should do so with great tact and care to the essence of Merdeka Square.

I certainly hope that they are not going to simply tear down the old clubhouse and erect some concrete monstrosity in tis place. Any plasn to build the museum must take into account the clubhouse and incorporate it as part of the new structure's fabric and identity.

Let's start a campaign to return Dataran Merdeka for All Malaysians.

Nomination day is Feb.22?

A little bird told me that. that's all I know.

Taunting Tun or Tan Tin Tun

MAHATHIR: Vote candidate
not party. -- pic AFP

After years of saying that Malaysian should vote for the party, the doctor from Aloq Staq is now changing his tune and telling us to vote for the candidate instead of the party.

In the past he had always made it a point to remind Malaysians it is the party its leaders that makes things work, the candidate is just one cog in the complex machinery.
Does it mean that now individual representatives can change policies and pass new laws?
This is an awkward move by someone who is usually far more elegant and inspiring, it is an abrupt about turn more closely linked to low-rent names like Ibrahim Ali, or even Anwar Ibrahim, but it seems that even the good doctor is losing his touch.
His recent performance at the Royal Commission of Inquiry to the Lingam tapes show that he is quite willing to scamper behind the sleazy moat of memory lapse, dragging his otherwise pristine white coat in the filth in the process.

Sorry noo...Saya la ni tak berapa nak ingat sangat..

His recent erratic and unpredictable political performance has no doubt raised some questions about the soundness of his sons within Umno. After all the seed never falls far from the tree.
Mokhzani and Mukhriz are making bids for seats this General Election and if one were to judge them by personal performance then they do not deserve to get votes because these sons of a former Prime Minister have not shown any sparks of brilliance in leadership to warrant the honour of the people.

Mokhzani and his Porsche buddies

Mukhriz the a fibre optic/tech baron

They have not shown to be particularly in touch with the public at large to make them caring and sympathetic representatives of any constituents.
If a particular constituent still holds on to a certain longing for Tun Mahathir then they should vote for his sons because then they can be assured of getting regular doses of his rants against the current Administration.
Voting in Mukriz and Mokhzani actually takes us down a path of more political discord without actually improving anything. It perpetuates the bad blood that flows in Tun's veins as he sees his decisions of 20 years overturned by his successor.

Rat-hot panties the rage in Malaysia ahead of Lunar New Year

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Malaysian Chinese women are reportedly snapping up red panties with mouse motifs for good luck as they prepare to usher in the Year of the Rat.

The Lunar New Year, which begins Thursday, is the year's biggest and most popular festival for the Chinese, who account for a quarter of Malaysia's 27 million people.

The Sunday Star reports the rat or mouse design has appeared in decorative items such as lanterns and even in underwear in anticipation of the good fortune the animal will bring.

Vivian Tham, a trader at a night market, told the newspaper the red panties with mouse motif have been her best-selling item since December.

Red panties are supposed to bring good luck to the wearer during Chinese New Year.

Tham says they're also popular with foreigners, especially Japanese tourists who find the mouse designs "cute." -- The Canadian Press
